After hanging up my cycling shoes some 29 years ago!!! I invested in a Trek 8.4ds the year before last. Riding for fitness / pleasure I generally do 20 - 40 miles at a time. I've fitted a off road front mudguard and chopped an on road one down for the back too keep legs clean and an off road one after that c/w a pannier rack. I use more "on road" tyres now as they seem to give better rolling resistance though enough traction for off road tracks and pathways. A great, sturdy, easy to ride bike that will certainly give miles of pleasure.....go get one!
I've had this bike for two years. Put on about 1200 miles per year. It is smooth rider on the road and also off-road (medium or light trails). Very comfortable and fast ride for a hybrid bike. The lock-up feature is nice, although it makes the bike more expensive than others in this price group. No problems with the bike, whether used for exercise or hitting the trails. It handles well jumping curbs and other obstacles. Would highly recommend.
This bike is a work horse. I use it for fitness, light touring and commuting, it can sustain a lot of abuse and is comfortable enough to do century rides on. 3700 road/off-road miles on it so far and I haven't had to replace anything except inner tubes and tires. This bike will help you determine if you love cycling enough to pay thousands of dollars for other bikes.
i use this bike for leisure riding, I have had no problems with it. I really like the look of it. all components have been reliable as to date.
